Add AffiliateLauncher in ChatGPT only with OpenAI's published steps.

Follow OpenAI's published steps, and send the company API key only where those docs show a header. API and MCP access needs the Plus plan.

AffiliateLauncher is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by OpenAI. ChatGPT is a product of OpenAI. This page describes public setup steps. It is not a partnership.

What AffiliateLauncher requires

The MCP endpoint is https://directsales.software/mcp. The app describes it as Streamable HTTP. Every call needs Authorization: Bearer and the company API key from Settings, then Company Config, then API & integrations. API and MCP access needs the Plus plan. Accounts without Plus are refused with 403 or 402.

The REST contract, 31 operations, is https://directsales.software/api/v1/openapi.json. Human-readable docs are at https://directsales.software/api/v1/docs. The same API key is used for REST and MCP.

Add the server URL in ChatGPT

Checked on 21 October 2026 against OpenAI's custom MCP server guide.

  1. Use ChatGPT on the web. Workspace permissions, including Lockdown, apply.
  2. Go to ChatGPT Plugins.
  3. Select the plus button, then Add custom MCP server.
  4. Enter a name. A description is optional.
  5. Under Connection, enter https://directsales.software/mcp. The guide also offers a Secure MCP Tunnel. AffiliateLauncher's server is already a public HTTPS URL, so you do not need a tunnel for it.
  6. OpenAI says the supported protocols are SSE and streaming HTTP. AffiliateLauncher publishes Streamable HTTP at /mcp.
  7. Review the risk warning, select "I understand and want to continue," then select Create as a plugin.
  8. Find the plugin in your personal plugins or the workspace where you created it, and install it before you use it.
  9. In the prompt box, type @ and select the installed plugin.

The same guide says the authentication options on that screen are OAuth, No authentication, and OAuth or no authentication. It says that for OAuth, static credentials are used when provided, and that ChatGPT can use Client ID Metadata Documents or dynamic client registration when the authorization server supports them.

A company API key is not a documented plugin choice

OpenAI's plugin authentication page says ChatGPT does not support machine-to-machine grants such as client credentials, service accounts, or JWT bearer assertions, and that it cannot present custom API keys or customer-provided mTLS certificates. AffiliateLauncher does not publish an OAuth server for /mcp. It publishes a company API key. Do not treat "No authentication" as a working setup. Calls without the key are rejected.

Responses API headers, which are documented

The OpenAI API reference for the MCP tool includes headers, described as optional HTTP headers to send to the MCP server, for authentication or other purposes. It also includes authorization, described as an OAuth access token that your application obtains. Use headers for the AffiliateLauncher company API key. The authorization field is documented for an OAuth access token, which this server does not issue.

Guide: MCP servers in the Responses API.

{
  "type": "mcp",
  "server_label": "affiliatelauncher",
  "server_url": "https://directsales.software/mcp",
  "headers": {
    "Authorization": "Bearer YOUR_COMPANY_API_KEY"
  }
}

Put that object in the tools array of a Responses API request, with your own OpenAI API key on the request to OpenAI. The value above is the AffiliateLauncher company key, not the OpenAI key. OpenAI's guide says to keep approval settings in mind for write tools. AffiliateLauncher's MCP tool list is read and help oriented. Creating or changing records is done through the REST API, not through those MCP tool names.

Call the OpenAPI file directly

Any HTTP client can skip MCP and call GET https://directsales.software/api/v1/openapi.json with Authorization: Bearer YOUR_COMPANY_API_KEY. That file is the canonical contract for distributors, sales, the ledger, commission plans, and, where the company includes them, ranks and commission runs.
